New Area Procurator Fiscal for Grampian01/09/2005



Ms Morag McLaughlin has been appointed by the Lord Advocate Colin Boyd QC to the post of Area Procurator Fiscal for Grampian. Ms McLaughlin, previously Head of the Policy Unit at Crown Office, takes up her new post today.



The previous Area Procurator Fiscal for Grampian Mr John Watt left the post earlier this year to take up the position of Area Procurator Fiscal for Argyll and Clyde.



Mr Boyd said:



"I am pleased to announce the appointment of Morag McLaughlin as Area Procurator Fiscal for Grampian. Morag is a wellrespected member of the department 2013 black friday uggs who will



build on the effective relationships with criminal justice partners in Grampian to improve the service that the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service delivers to local communities."



Ms McLaughlin said:



"I'm really looking forward to working in Grampian. It's a beautiful part of the world where I have spent time both on holiday and on business and I relish the opportunity to work there and get to know the area and its people better.



"This is a very exciting time to be working in the prosecution service and in the black friday uggs criminal justice system generally. We are working ever more closely with partners in other agencies and with local communities, to ensure a modern, effective and efficient Service in which communities can have confidence."



Morag McLaughlin (40) graduated from Glasgow University with LLB (hons) in 1986, and a Diploma in Legal Practice the following year. She has worked within the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service for 15 years, beginning as a Fiscal Depute in Paisley, and then spending time in the policy unit at Crown Office, before being appointed as Legal Assistant to the Crown Agent in 1999. Morag also headed the High Court Unit and most recently the Policy Unit, before her appointment to Grampian.
